One of the most common questions we get from newly engaged couples is some version of “when do we actually need to book everything?” The honest answer is: earlier than you think. Good wedding suppliers in London and the Home Counties are routinely booked twelve to eighteen months out for peak Saturdays. Leave it too late and you’ll either compromise on quality or pay a premium for last-minute availability. Here’s our month-by-month timeline for booking your wedding entertainment in 2026 (and beyond).
12 Months Out: Lock In Your DJ

This is the very first entertainment booking you should make. Wedding DJs are usually the first to book up because they’re the only entertainment you absolutely cannot run a wedding without. Saturdays in May, June, August and September go first — we routinely turn down enquiries for those dates eight to twelve months in advance. Don’t wait.
9 Months Out: Photo Booth or Magic Mirror

Once your DJ is sorted, focus on your interactive entertainment. Photo booths and magic mirrors are the second tier of bookings — not as scarce as DJs, but the popular suppliers do still book up nine to twelve months ahead. If you’re undecided between options, our comparison guide walks through the differences.
6 Months Out: Light-Up Letters and 360 Booth

By six months out you should be confirming the visual extras. Light-up MR & MRS or LOVE letters, custom initial letters, light-up numbers, and a 360 booth if you want one. These are statement pieces that take time to manufacture or customise, so don’t leave them until the last minute. If you want bespoke letters with your initials, allow eight to ten weeks for production alone.
4 Months Out: Final Numbers Check
Touch base with each of your entertainment suppliers. Have any of your details changed? New venue? Earlier ceremony? Confirmed guest count? This is when good DJs will start asking about timings, special moments to plan around, and your shortlist of must-play and do-not-play tracks. At Disctilldawn, we allow you to do all this with our sophisticated event planning app so it can be done when you are ready and we are always on the end of the phone when you need to speak with us.
3 Months Out: Send Your Playlist
Three months gives your DJ time to source any rare tracks, build your custom set list, and flag anything they need clarification on. Send your first dance choice (with version — album cut or radio edit makes a difference), parent dances, must-play floor-fillers, and crucially your do-not-play list. The best DJs will then come back with suggestions of additions you’ve missed.
1 Month Out: Final Review of Your Event Planner
By this point your DJ should have everything they need from the event planner you’ve been working through — arrival music, ceremony, drinks reception, wedding breakfast, speeches, cake cut, first dance, evening guest arrival, dance set, last orders, carriages. The good ones (Disctilldawn included) give you an online planner you can complete in your own time, then they’re available on the phone for the finer details — the version of a song, the exact moment for the cake cut, the do-not-play list. Every one of those moments needs the right music to land properly.
2 Weeks Out: Final Numbers and Logistics
Confirm final guest count, exact times, and any last-minute changes. Share your venue contact’s details with each supplier so they can liaise directly on the day. Confirm load-in times, parking arrangements, and where each supplier should set up.
The Day Itself
Trust your suppliers. You’ve chosen them carefully, briefed them properly, and they do this every weekend. Your job on the day is to enjoy your wedding, not project-manage the entertainment. The pros will sort it.
