An 18th birthday needs a plan that fits the birthday person’s music, the guest list and the venue. You do not need every extra to make it work. Start with a suitable room and a clear music brief, then choose the entertainment that fits your space and budget.

Check the venue before booking entertainment
- Confirm the event is accepted: tell the venue it is an 18th birthday, the expected guest numbers and whether younger guests will attend. Ask about its entry, supervision and alcohol policies.
- Get the music finish time and sound restrictions in writing: ask whether there is a sound limiter and share its requirements with your DJ. Plan the party around the permitted hours.
- Check access: ask about loading, stairs or lifts, parking, setup time and collection. Send the supplier the venue contact and usable floor layout.
- Plan the journey home: agree collection arrangements and a clear finish time with guests and families.
Give the DJ a useful music brief
Ask the birthday person to choose a short must-play list and a do-not-play list. Include favourite genres and artists, any clean-version requirements and how you want requests handled. Tell the DJ when food, cake and speeches are planned so the music can build around those moments.
Compare the Classic and Premium disco setups for sound, lighting and presentation. The right choice depends on the room and the atmosphere you want, rather than adding equipment for its own sake.
Choose photographs, video or both
A 360 Video Booth makes short clips using a rotating camera arm. A Classic Photo Booth or Magic Mirror is a different experience, focused on photographs and printed keepsakes. A Selfie Pod offers an open photo setup. None is essential: choose what your guests will enjoy and your venue can accommodate.
Confirm the operating time, clear space and access, print or digital-sharing arrangements, and personalised design before booking. Discuss how guests will access their files and who may share them publicly.
Add details that matter to your celebration
Light-up 18 numbers can frame the cake or photo area. An audio guestbook records voice messages. If you want several services, compare the party package options against the individual services you actually need.
A sample evening running order
This example assumes a 7pm arrival and an 11pm music finish. Adjust it to the venue’s confirmed hours and your suppliers’ agreed hire times.
- 7pm: guests arrive, background music and photographs.
- 7.45pm: food and time to catch up.
- 8.30pm: cake and any short speeches.
- 8.45pm: the main dance set begins, with requests handled as agreed.
- 10.45pm: final favourites and a clear announcement about collection.
- 11pm: music finishes; guests leave according to the venue arrangements.
